   Avengers vs X-Men #1 1st Ptg Regular Jim Cheung Cover,4/24/2012 1:57:50 AM
 
The first shot has been fired! I have to tell you now that AvX is one of the best comics I've read in awhile. The back story is that Hope, a mutant in training, is the essential vessel for the Phoenix. As the power of the Phoenix is devastating other planets it is up to the Avengers to stop Phoenix and also retrieve Hope. Conflict then ensues as Cyclops refuses to give up hope as he sees her being the messiah of the Mutants. The action is great. The art is vibrant (i suggest getting a variant for this one). And the story is amazing. It will only be 12-issues with 5 tie-ins long but I suggest fans of the Avengers and X-men alike should give this a go.
