Punisher MAX Homeless TP,10/29/2012 11:18:34 AM
The end of the Punisher MAX series sees all things brought to a conclusion. I wouldn't say to a neat conclusion, but definitely things are wrapped up and finished. I liked this take on the Punisher - it's fun seeing characters like Electra, Bullseye and Kingpin in a diferent context, getting put through their paces. It's fun to watch, and good to read. This trade paperback reminded me of some of Garth Ennis' writing - some nasty stuff here that still manages to surprise you. Steve Dillon's art still looks the business; I've been a fan of his since he did art for 'Rogue Trooper' for 2000A.D. Over the top, nasty, guilty pleasures. Buy, read, enjoy... and get your head done in.
Boys Vol 11 Over The Hill With The Swords Of A Thousand Men TP,10/29/2012 11:25:57 AM
Nasty, nasty, nasty. This is what 'The Boys' has has been building up to since issue one. All the answers to the questions through out the series seem to get answered here. And if you are a fan of 'The Boys' and of Ennis' writing, then this will be more of what you crave. When he is in form, this bloke writes a damn good comic. (And guess what, here Ennis is in form!)
   Crossed Vol 4 Badlands TP,10/29/2012 11:36:05 AM
Dammit, but this is one bleak little read. I preferred the Ennis/Burrows' contribution to Jamie Delano's half. Pretty depraved stuff - but with a moral.... (I wonder about Garth's mental state at times - how does he come up with some of these gory little psycho-dramas?) The mind boggles. 5/5 for the Ennis story. 3.5/5 for Delano's issues. If you've liked the Crossed story so far, then this will float your boat! If you're jumping on 'The Crossed' bandwagon late, be warned that this is brutal stuff. Not for the faint-hearted.
