This trilogy of short tales explores sensuality, and provides unique insights into rituals, festivals and erotica. In The Offering a curvaceous young nymph is offered as a sacrifice to a mythical monster, only for rescue to come in an unlikely form. The Bonfires of St. John tells the voyeuristic misadventures of a Middle Ages virgin. While The Ceremony is set in Venice at beginning of the 20th century, when a young pregnant woman joins her lover during a mystery laden Venetian masquerade ball. Thoughtful, intelligent, arousing, with exquisitely rendered Rubenesque women, these stories reveal a previously unseen erotic side of one of Europe's greatest comics creators, Loisel (Peter Pan, Roxanna & The Quest for the Time Bird)."
