Volume 14 of Excel Saga not only proudly offers further plot development — never to be taken for granted, as in lesser manga — but shamelessly panders to base reader instincts with a romantic date, a muddy catfight, and two lavish bath scenes, one of which unfortunately involves Dr. Kabapu.
