Aline’s wild and crazy journey to the world of underground comics took her from Long Island, the world of matzoh ball soup, to tumultuous Greenwich Village in the sixties, and from there to California, the legendary land of sex, drugs and kinky comic books.

Alienated from her dysfunctional family and her environment, Aline’s eyes were opened by the youth movement of the 1960s. After finishing art school, she gravitated to San Francisco, mecca of the hippy revolution, before finally meeting, falling in love with, and marrying R. Crumb. The couple spent years living in rural California before leaving for Europe in 1990. Over the years they have regularly collaborated on comic stories based on their real life together that were published in a series called “Dirty Laundry.” They are the only couple in the history of comics to have worked together in this particular way.

NEED MORE LOVE is a power-packed blend of comic strips, art, photographs and memorabilia from the 60s to the present, which candidly portrays the movers, the shakers (and the jerks) of the art and music scene with searing honesty.
